Asher Watson

Attorney at Law

It is no surprise that Asher Watson chose to pursue a career in law. Raised by two attorneys and judges in Greenville, he still holds fond memories of observing court proceedings and trials at a young age. His parents gave him not only the chance to see so much in the legal world, but also gave him the gift of gab he holds today. Among family and friends, to those he has just met, whether in public or among the bench and bar, he knows no stranger.

Asher Watson is a lifelong resident of Greenville, South Carolina. He graduated Christ Church Episcopal School in 2004 and earned his B.A. in 2008 from the College of Charleston, magna cum laude, studying History.

In 2012, he earned his Juris Doctor Degree from the Charleston School of Law, cum laude, where he was a merit scholar and graduated in the top 20% of his class. While in law school, Asher was a competitor on the school’s Moot Court Board. In 2010, he competed in the American Constitution Society’s National Moot Court competition in Boston, Massachusetts, where he placed runner-up, besting teams from Harvard Law School, Columbia Law School, New York School of Law, Brigham Young University Law School, and over 30 others.

During law school, Asher worked most semesters for various legal entities, excelling at his academic demands while gaining valuable practical experience with seasoned practitioners. These included a private practitioner in Charleston, the Public Defender’s Office in Charleston, as well as Solicitors’ Offices in four different counties (Greenville, Pickens, Charleston and Berkeley). In that span, Asher still found time to serve pro bono for over 300 legal service hours.

After law school, Asher was hired by Walt Wilkins as an Assistant Solicitor for the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office from 2012 to 2017. There, he served as a prosecutor for the Magistrate Unit and the White Collar Crimes unit. However, he did not confine his efforts to prosecuting only economic crime cases. In his time there, he docketed cases including Bank Fraud, Breach of Trust, and Grand Larceny, as well as Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Criminal Sexual Conduct, while trying cases that ranged from DUI to Attempted Murder.

Asher is married to his wonderful wife, Bridgette, where they live in Greenville with their dog, Hasell, and cat, Steve Purrier. They are members of Christ Church Episcopal and enjoy live music and travelling. Asher is a 2016 graduate of Opportunity Greenville through the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and is a volunteer for Special Olympics through the SC Bar’s Young Lawyer’s Division. Asher also enjoys writing music and playing guitar, and is a devout fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks and Chelsea Football Club.
